JOB LISTING
Farm Stand Manager

Do you love good food, good causes, and spending your summers outdoors? You may be our next Farm Stand Director! Share the Harvest Farm is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose primary mission is to grow fresh produce for food pantries and other community organizations on the East End of Long Island. We support our mission by operating a robust farm stand that sells freshly picked local produce, as well as artisanal products from our farm and regional merchants. We’re looking for a foodie with retail experience, a keen eye for design, and a commitment to community to lead our farm stand team!

As Farm Stand Manger, you will be responsible for revamping the product line, enriching our online store, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of our “little farm stand with a big heart.” This full-time position begins on March 1 for product research, website development, and managing farm stand construction. During the farm stand season—approximately May 1-Columbus Day—you must be available to work Thursday-Monday, for an estimated 45-50 hours a week (subject to change based on holidays/events). This is a seasonal position, with the possibility of extending year-round.

Specific duties include:

  • Actively seeking regional vendors/food products (tastings!) to expand and improve our product line.

  • Overseeing the redesign of the physical farm stand layout to protect the health and safety of customers and staff.

  • Developing and maintaining our online store for pre-paid pick-up orders.

  • Leading friendly and enthusiastic sales team of 2-3 staff.

  • Ordering all produce, products, and supplies; maintaining happy relationships with local vendors.

  • Managing daily set up and break down of the farm stand; creating eye-appealing displays to show off our produce and other products.

  • Maintaining product quality throughout the day (i.e. temperature control, shade, hydration).

  • Implementing competitive and effective pricing and promotions.

  • Letting your artistic side shine by developing signage—from individual product chalkboards to roadside banners.

  • Providing timely and accurate reports on sales, costs, and inventory to fellow farm managers and board of directors.

  • Serving as the farm stand’s IT whiz by managing our online point-of-sale system and web store.

  • Taking as many pictures as possible for social media and email blasts.

  • Boosting sales to help our farm grow and make 2022 our most profitable year yet!

Job requirements:

  • Previous sales experience required; farm stand experience a big plus.

  • Must be a people person with passion for healthy food, wellness, and community.

  • Willingness to work outdoors in all conditions and ability to stand for considerable periods of time.

  • Experience with online sales platforms, point-of-sale systems, and social media.

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs of fresh veggies and fruit on occasion.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving our branded delivery van.
